My short story “Remix: Lost Places” won the → 2026 GINCO Award in the “Comic Experiment” category! The award was presented as part of the Erlangen Comic Festival. I’d like to thank the jury and the entire GINCO Award team for this honor. A special thank you to Cord-Christian Casper for the wonderful → laudatory speech. Of course, heartfelt congratulations also go out to all of this year’s award winners. It was so great to get a glimpse into your work, exchange ideas, and swap a few comics here and there.
In short: It was a wonderful evening—and even more wonderful to experience it together with so many dear people who were part of this process. Afterward, we raised a toast and continued the celebration at → Tine Steen’s exhibition on the “Kochende Affen” (Cooking Monkeys)—the winner in the “Nonfiction Comics” category. A long evening. A pleasure.

I was able to showcase the original drawings for “Remix: Lost Places” at the 2025 → Fumetto Festival as part of a satellite exhibition. A little later that year, the works traveled to Prague and were featured in the main exhibition at the → „Lustr-Festival“ Many thanks to all the festivals—big and small—in our comic world. You do such incredibly great, important work that constantly fosters new connections. And it is you who create spaces for (comic) experimentation. This allows new, uncomfortable, loud, quiet, colorful, and non-linear works to develop outside the mainstream, enabling the medium of “graphic storytelling” to be continually reexamined.

Who knows how the journey “Beyond the wallpaper beach” will continue. Anyway, I’m watching as new places, images, and scenes take shape inside me and seem to want to drive the story forward. So: To be continued?!

Meine Erzählung „Remix: Lost Places“ hat den → GINCO Award 2026 in der Kategorie „Comic Experiment“ erhalten! Der Preis wurde im Rahmen des Comicfestival Erlangen verliehen. Ich danke der Jury, dem ganzen Team des GINCO Awards für diese Auszeichnung. Insbesondere einen großen Dank an Cord-Christian Casper für die so tolle → Laudatio. Natürlich auch herzliche Glückwunsch an alle diesjährigen Preisträger*Innen. Es war so großartig Einblick in eure Arbeiten zu bekommen, sich auszutauschen und den ein oder anderen Comictausch zu starten.
Kurz: Es war ein wunderbarer Abend und noch viel wunderbarer diesen Abend mit vielen lieben Menschen gemeinsam zu erleben, die Teil dieses Prozesses waren. Im Anschluss wurde dann noch in der Ausstellung von → Tine Steen zu den „Kochenden Affen“ – der Preisträgerin in der Kategorie „Sachcomic“ – angestoßen und weiter gefeiert. Ein langer Abend. Ein Fest.

Die Originalzeichnungen zu „Remix: Lost Places“ konnte ich auf dem → Fumetto-Festival 2025 im Rahmen einer Satellitenausstellung zeigen. Etwas später im Jahr reisten die Arbeiten noch nach Prag und wurden auf dem → „Lustr-Festival“ in der Hauptausstellung gezeigt. Vielen Dank an alle großen und kleinen Festivals unserer Comicwelt. Ihr leistet so unglaublich tolle, wichtige und immer wieder neu vernetzende Arbeit. Und ihr seid es, die Räume für (Comic-)Experimente schafft. So dass sich Neues, Unbequemes, Lautes, Leises, Buntes, Nicht-Lineares abseits des Mainstream entwickeln kann und so das Medium „Graphische Erzählung“ immer wieder neu hinterfragt werden kann.

Wer weiss wie die Reise „Jenseits des Tapetenstrands“ weiter geht. Ich beobachte jedenfalls wie sich neue Orte, Bilder, Szenen in mir formen und die Erzählung weiter treiben wollen. Also: Fortsetzung folgt?!
